Missing serial numbers ...

I just recieved my xmass order of 10 oz bars from my online dealer and lucked out with all serial numbered bars. I say lucked out by the fact that half were J/M and the other half was Engelhard bars - all with serial numbers. In the past I have received Sunshine Mining bars with s/n and Sunshine Minting without s/n and Northwest Territories without s/n.

The big question is, in the long run, does the s/n adds to value or ease of exchange?

Only advantage is if they are stolen and recovered....you would have proof of ownership.....other than that, they melt just as well as non-serial numbered.....GLTU

If i have a bar of Englehard silver bullion, is there anyway of looking up the serial numbers somewhere, to find out where it was originally from?
